Westlock Lacrosse was established in 2005 with three teams at the PeeWee, Bantam and Midget levels. By 2008 we had grown to 6 teams, and in 2009 we are anticipating offering teams at the following levels: Tyke, Novice, PeeWee, Bantam, Midget, Junior, and Girls Midget.
Our teams (except Tykes and Junior) play in the GELC (Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council), the Edmonton league which also includes teams from St. Albert, Ft. Saskatchewan, Leduc, Sherwood Park, Beaumont and Edmonton.
The Tykes program is developmental with a focus on skill development. Games played are either exhibition or tournament.
Our Junior team is part of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL), which administers Junior lacrosse throughout the province.
We welcome players from Westlock and area. In previous years our teams have included players from Barrhead, Athabasca, and all areas around Westlock County.
Lacrosse is a fast game which provides excellent conditioning. It involves physical contact, and is a mix of basketball and hockey. It is played on an arena floor ("box") without the ice, with 5 runners and 1 goalie. Give it a try and see why lacrosse is "The Fastest Game on Two Feet"!
