Westlock Lacrosse Association
About Us

Westlock Lacrosse was established in 2005 with three teams at the PeeWee, Bantam and Midget levels.  In 2010 we are offering teams at the following levels:  Mini-Tyke, Tyke, Novice, PeeWee, Bantam, Midget, Junior, and Female Midget.

Our teams (except Mini-Tyke, Tyke and Junior) play in the GELC (Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council), the Edmonton league which also includes teams from the following lacrosse clubs:  St. Albert Rams, Ft. Saskatchewan Rebels, Leduc Crush, Sherwood Park Titans, North Edmonton Wizards, South Edmonton Warriors, West Edmonton Blues, and the Parkland Posse (which is new for 2010!).

Our Mini-Tyke and Tyke programs are developmental, with a focus on skill development.  Games played are either exhibition or tournament.

Our Junior team is part of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL), which administers Junior lacrosse throughout the province.  In 2010 we will participate in the Tier II North league.

We welcome players from Westlock and area.  In previous years our teams have included players from Barrhead, Athabasca, Westlock County, and neighbouring counties.

Lacrosse is a fast game which provides excellent conditioning.  It involves physical contact, and is a mix of basketball and hockey.  It is played on an arena floor ("box") without the ice, with 5 runners and 1 goalie. For more information on lacrosse, check out our "Links" to the Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA), GELC, Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA), and various other sources.

Give it a try and see why lacrosse is "The Fastest Game on Two Feet"!
