Sobey's Cards Fundraiser

WLA will be selling Sobeys cards twice this season.  The proceeds will support our facilities costs - the GELC Building Fund and the Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre.  Team managers will be collecting the orders, with two order dates (May 2/3 and June 6/7).

Practices and Games for 2012 Season

With completion date of the new Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre falling during our 2012 Season, the Executive has been working with the Town of Westlock to minimize disruptions to our program.  We have asked the GELC to schedule all of our games in the Greater Edmonton area so that the season schedule can be finalized in early April.  This will minimize any potential disruptions to the game schedule, as we work towards getting our new facility game-ready.  For practices, we will start the season at RF Staples in early April, as we have in prior years.  When the ice surface at Jubilee arena is dry, we will move practices there for the remainder of April.  Jubilee arena is slated for demolition in May, so we have booked RF Staples for our practice facility for the month of May.  The Spirit Centre is expected to be operational in June, so we will move into our new home for all practices in June.  We appreciate the ongoing support of our lacrosse community as we work through this transition, and we will keep you updated if there are any new developments.  Please see below for practice times by team.

Volunteers

We are entirely volunteer-driven, and volunteers are always needed for various positions on teams and administering the Association.  If everyone takes on a small role, it makes it manageable to provide a great lacrosse experience for our 150+ local players!  In addition to our great Coaches and Team Managers, volunteers make up the WLA Board; assist with fundraising (sell 50/50's at Rush games, organize bottle drive, sell Sobeys cards); help keep our floor in great shape by mopping it with speedtrack; and assisting other ways.  If you are interested in helping out in any way, please tell any member of the Board, and we'll get in touch with you!
